Part-time: Research Coordinator/Manager in Mindfulness Research

Our research lab focuses on innovative interpersonal mindfulness research and the application of mindfulness in pregnant and postpartum families and in other clinical settings. The clinical research lab is part of the BC Reproductive Mental Health Program at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada and the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine. Research team members work closely with mindfulness teachers, psychiatrists and other hospital staff and collaborate internationally with other research labs in the fields of mindfulness, mental health, clinical research and digital health.

Things to consider before applying:

  • You can commit 3+ years, now through mid-2027, longer collaboration is welcome
  • You can commit a minimum of 1 day/week or up to 0.5FTE (number of days per week and position level/pay can be adjusted based on the mutual agreement)
  • We are looking for a great fit and someone passionate about the field and we will tailor the position rank (manager/coordinator /associate/assistant) and responsibilities based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications

Research projects – some of the ongoing and future projects are related to mindfulness and outcomes in:

  • Parents; perinatal population
  • Infants and early development
  • Relationship dynamics
  • Digital health
  • Dance and movement-based mindfulness
  • A spectrum of quantitative and qualitative research, systematic reviews

Skills and experiences we look for:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Previous research experience (e.g., data collection using REDCap, preparing ethics applications; manuscript writing, other research experience is highly welcome)
  • Data analysis skills (excel, R, SPSS); experience with systematic literature reviews
  • Management, organization and coordination skills (demonstrated in previous roles)
  • Strict attention to detail and ability to understand and follow detailed instructions

Personal qualities we look for

  • Reliable – must follow up with team members in case task cannot be completed as agreed upon
  • Exceptionally organized; able to manage self and coordinate others
  • Proactive attitude, able to work and meet goals under minimal supervision
  • Ability to problem solve and find solutions to new challenges
  • Time management and prioritization to meet project deadlines
  • Naturally self-directed and able to excel in remote-work environments with a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Tasks performed:

  • Drafts papers, posters, grants and other deliverables; editing drafts after others
  • Reliably coordinates ongoing studies, ensures everything runs smoothly, meets set timelines and deadlines (even during times with little to no supervision)
  • Preparing ethics applications
  • Statistical analyses (SPSS or R)
  • Recruitment, communication with study participants
  • Data collection at pre-set times, in person and/or on REDCap
  • Incorporating edits from peer-reviewers and re-submitting manuscripts to journal
  • Identifying grant opportunities for lab funding
  • Coordinating team members -research, clinical, admin – to ensure projects run smoothly
  • Administrative support and other supportive tasks as needed

Required qualifications (must meet all to be considered):

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant research experience
  • Completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in a relevant field (we will tailor position and responsibilities depending on qualifications and experience)
  • Publications in relevant field (including peer-reviewed research articles
